I am offering here for the download the majority of the talons' recorded catalog. Most of these recordings were only released in quantities fewer than 10 so here is a chance to hear them. The full length albums have been reissued in physical form so if you like the recordings and would like to own a copy of them (including hand-made artwork, please visit the store to pick something up.Similarly, I have finished and self-published an expanded version of the "lyrics PFD" that you will find at the end of the page, complete with many photos and drawings that is also for sale. please note: these projects are listed chronologically, not from best to worst. i think it is all worth hearing, but i do think that some things are better to hear first. if i were you, i´d download "rustic bullshit" first, then whatever. 1.falls' chagrin (2005) >> - this was the first talons' album. recorded over about a year in the attic at diamond shiners. 2.shitty emo (2006) >> - two "demos" for 'rustic bullshit' songs, a trouble books cover and a live version of "fuck everything" recorded in a metal dome on the roof of the famous tangiers in the middle of winter. noisy and very sad. 3.rustic bullshit (2007) >> - a sad short album about getting dumped, drinking, eating junk food, etc. recorded between diamond shiners and my parents house in new phila. probably the best talons' recording other than "songs for babes" (rustic bullshit original 1 track >) - the original version of the record, all combined with different version of the portage path song, singing recorded in a car to minidisc with the music playing over the car stereo. 4.love in the time of panera (2007) >> - four "demos" for 'songs for babes', including a 10 minute version of 'rachel' and a gabe schray cover. 5.okracoke (2007) >> - a one night recording of four songs, two of them instrumental, in the basement of colfax palace. these would be the "happy" talons' songs, and an "ambient" one. it all ties together with the night sounds of august in akron in the background. 6.honey gold (2007) >> - named after my favorite wing sauce at Gyro, these are the four songs about working there, recorded live to cassette on the porch at colfax, also in august. three of the songs would be rerecorded for 'songs for babes' 7.songs for babes (2008) - released internationally by Own Record, locally by Bark & Hiss and Britishly by MIE 8.stanhope (2008) >> - recorded in a tiny apartment in ridgewood, queens. named after the street we lived on. ramshackly 1-track, 5 songs with a storm in the background. most of it written on four-string dulcimer. (stanhope cut into tracks >) 9. Talons' in HD (2008) >> - the "saddest" talons' songs. recorded in a loft in cleveland in the 'flats' on the coldest day of 2008 (feb 10th i think), in an unfinished room, facing the lake with a tiny space-heater and brian straw's tube mic. no arrangements; just bare songs and singing, with snow falling outside.
